The U.S. 25th Infantry Division, 1st Brigade made a helicopter assault just south of the Ho Bo Woods at about 8 a.m. Sunday morning. More than 60 helicopters lifted the 2nd Battalion, 14th Infantry Regiment (subject of these pictures) to the landing zone. Three companies came on line and began their sweep north searching and clearing and assessing bomb damage from a B-52 raid made earlier that morning. And they walked and they walked until about 4.p.m that afternoon when one of the companies trailing the rest as a reaction force walked right into an ambush. The resulting fire fight lasted about 45 minutes. No casualty figures from either side were available at the time photographer wrote assignment sheet.
